We are looking for Parents or Carers who would be willing to commit to a 4 year term serving on our Governing Board and who could form links with the PTA. To be able to hold the position of Parent Governor you must have a child currently attending the school.

Governor meetings currently take place at 4pm on Wednesdays and a list of our planned meeting dates for this year can be found below along with other information about the Governing Board. Gen Verde – Start Now Project 2018

Posted 26.11.18

The Gen Verde ‘Start Now’ project was held at Notre Dame and St Boniface’s College earlier in November, led by 12 international artists and performers.  Gen Verde’s purpose was to offer our students the opportunity to break down barriers of prejudice and celebrate diversity, peace, collaboration and self-esteem.

In the intense 5-day programme the band worked with groups of young people from both schools to share skills and prepare them to perform in concert alongside Gen Verde members.  Participants were encouraged to develop existing talents and discover new ones. Through the creative and rehearsal process of preparing a show, the band and workshop members worked side by side as co-protagonists and members of a team in which respect and openness are the norm. If you attended the final concert you will know what a remarkable experience this was for our students. Thank you to all those who supported this event and all the students who took part.

Young Carers Conference

Posted 21.11.18

Notre Dame is a school that cares – so we were thrilled to take part in the Young Carers’ Conference in Plymouth that raised awareness as well as cash for our own young carers.

Led by Lisa Rogers, our Senco, the Notre Dame delegation included LSAs Fran Brady and Inda Badesha and three of our Young Carers past and present, Chloe, Katie and Quiana.

We raised £45 with Fran’s sale of her own home-made and beautifully-packaged cakes and sweets, and the money will be used to provide trips and treats for our young carers.

Our eye-catching stand at the conference on 8 November featured a large display created by Miss Badesha, and a poster that featured a day in the life of a young carer, copies of which were available to take away by delegates.

Our young carers enjoyed the event immensely and were able to talk to others with similar life experiences, while our members of staff were able to hear the latest thinking on how best to support young carers and compare notes with professionals at other schools.

It was an honour to be able to demonstrate our commitment to these amazing young people in front of the Lord Mayor of Plymouth and Lisa Cornish, the passionate and inspiring organiser of the event.
