Year 9 DTP Vaccinations – April 2020

Please follow the link below to view a copy of the letter sent to parents/carers of Year 9 students regarding upcoming Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio vaccinations.

Vaccinations are organised by Virgin Care and any queries regarding the vaccinations should be directed to them. Contact details are included within the letter below.

Parental consent is required by 23rd February 2020.


ParentMail – new communication tool

As explained in our Headteacher’s September letter to parents, from 1st October 2019, all communication will be sent to parents/carers using ParentMail.  Once you have registered for an account you will be able to:

Receive school messages and newsletters
Book parents’ evening appointments
Give consent for various school-related activities e.g. trips
Provide feedback

We would encourage all parents/carers to download the free ParentMail app (available from the App Store) as it is the most convenient way for you to get school news, straight to your phone.

HPV Vaccinations for Year 8 Students

For any Year 8 student who did not receive the HPV Vaccination on 1st October 2019, the next opportunity for them to receive the immunisation is Tuesday 11th February 2020 (changed from original date of 6th February).
For your daughter to receive the immunisation on the 11th February, you must complete the online registration and consent form which is open from 7th October and will close two weeks before 11th February.

Early Close on 18/09/19

Important Notice

A reminder to all parents/carers that we will have an early close at 1.40pm on Wednesday 18th September 2019 to allow us to set up ahead of our Open Evening taking place from 4-7pm on that evening.

All Students will be released to go home at 1.40pm on this day and will need a note from their parents in their planner to confirm that parents are aware of this.

Dates of vaccinations for ND students are as follows: (vaccinations will take place in school on these dates):

Tuesday 1 October 2019 – Visit 1 – Autumn Term – Yr 8 HPV Dose 1
Tuesday 11 February 2020 – Visit 2 – Spring Term – Yr 9 HPV Dose 2, Yr 8 9 Dose 1( if not seen on 1 Oct)
Thursday 16 April 2020 – Diphtheria/Tetanus/Polio & Meningitis AWCY – All Yr 9
Tuesday 9 June 2020 – Summer Term – Mop Up sessions – HPV/Diphtheria/Tetanus/Polio & Meningitis AWCY – Any missed vaccinations from 16 April

MKC Heroes – Secondary School of the Year!

We are delighted to announce that the Notre Dame Military Kids Club Heroes have won the ‘Best Secondary School’ award at the 2019 Military Kids Club Heroes Awards Evening!

Over the last few years, the staff and students have won a number of awards at the MKC Awards Evening and we are overjoyed that we have won again this year.  The award is extremely special to us.

A ‘Good’ Ofsted Outcome

We are very pleased to announce that following our Inspection on 4th and 5th June 2019, Ofsted have found us to be ‘Good’ in all sections of their inspection as follows:

Initial Ofsted Feedback

Following our Ofsted Inspection on 4th and 5th June 2019, a letter has been sent to parents/carers and students to offer initial feedback on their visit.  Please find a link to this letter below.  It can also be found under the ‘Information’ and ‘Letters’ tabs on our website.

We’d like to thank parents/carers and students for their ongoing support of Notre Dame and positive contributions to the inspection.

The official report will be published in approximately 6 weeks’ time once it has been moderated by Ofsted inspectors.

Gold DofE Awards!

Congratulations to Jack, Toby and Abby, our sixth form students, who were invited to Buckingham Palace in May to receive their Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards.

In order to achieve the Gold DofE award, students have to complete the following:

12 months of volunteering work
12-18 months of physical and skills
Qualifying expedition (4 days and 3 nights) plus a practice expedition
Residential (5 days and 4 nights) – a shared activity with new people

We are so proud of them – a fabulous achievement!
