SUPPORT STAFF VACANCIES 

Required for December 2019/January 2020

ASSESSMENT and EXAMINATIONS OFFICER
Grade E (subject to JE) £22,849 – £25,150 pro-rata
Permanent, 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per annum (term-time, plus 2 weeks)

We are seeking an Assessment and Examinations Officer to join us from January 2020. The postholder will be responsible for the effective running of external and internal examinations within the school to support the Senior Leadership Team and for student data and assessment systems to support and drive school improvement through effective use of our MI system (SIMS).

The successful candidate must have excellent numeracy, literacy and communication skills, along with good analytical and reasoning skills to deliver a successful exam season and to support leaders and teaching staff to use data and assessment to drive progress within teaching and learning. The postholder will enjoy working with a variety of people, have strong IT literacy, feeling at ease using a range of different IT packages, to include word, excel, databases, web-based packages and SIMS and must have excellent organisation and time management skills.

The postholder will line manage the Data/Exams Assistant and the invigilation team.  There is also a requirement to work during the school closedown period in August to prepare for and deliver our public examinations results days.

PASTORAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT
Grade C (subject to JE) £18,035 – £19,045 pro-rata
Permanent, 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per annum (term-time, plus 1 week)

An opportunity has arisen to join our pastoral team to support students to achieve their best and maximise learning outcomes during their time at Notre Dame.

Principle duties and responsibilities will include supporting the Assistant Headteacher for Student Wellbeing and the House team in providing behaviour support and intervention for students. The postholder will need to be flexible, optimistic and resilient to react to demands at short notice as a first responder to student behaviour matters. They will build excellent relationships with children and their parents to enhance learning opportunities for all students, but particularly for vulnerable students. They will also act as student services receptionist at set times of the day and provide administrative support to the House team and Assistant Head, as required.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people, ideally in a secondary school setting, be used to handling sensitive and confidential matters and have understanding of child protection and safeguarding (training will be provided). They will be able to remain calm, feel at ease communicating with students, parents, colleagues and other agencies in person, in writing and over the telephone and have strong administrative skills and be comfortable using a range of IT packages including word, excel and SIMs.

Work Experience Applications

We welcome applications from those looking at a career in Teaching to complete work experience placements at Notre Dame. The process of arranging these placements can take some time so it is advisable to contact us at least 8 working weeks ahead of your anticipated start date. Please take school holiday times into account when thinking about this.

To carry out Work Experience in our school applicants will need current DBS Clearance. For those who have signed up to the DBS Update Service we are able to access clearance information through this system but if not a new DBS application will need to be completed through the school and applicants will be asked to cover the cost of this. This process, along with other safeguarding checks, can take a number of weeks so please ensure you allow at least 4 weeks for this to be completed before you plan to carry out your work experience.

To begin the application process please complete the WEX Application form found below, ensuring you state;

  • when you would like to carry out your work experience
  • why you wish to undertake the work experience
  • expected duration and pattern of work experience
  • subject preferences

and return it to the HR Department. We will write for references as part of this process so please ensure current contact details are provided on the form for your referees.

Your application will need to be agreed by the Headteacher and subject leaders. We may not be able to accommodate your request.
