FINANCE ASSISTANT APPRENTICESHIP – September 2017 start

Fixed-Term Contract until 31st August 2018,

37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time only)

Apprentice Pay £3.50 per hour, optional contributory LGPS career average pension scheme

We are looking for a Finance Assistant Apprentice to join our finance team at Notre Dame School.   The successful candidate will be part of the finance team working under the direction and guidance or the Finance Manager and/or Finance Officer and will be based in their office on the lower ground floor.

The post involve establishing good relationships with students, colleagues and parents, assisting in standardised financial processes such as; operating a school bank service, receiving and processing petty cash claims, placing orders, data input of financial data, working with databases, reconciliation of supplier accounts, inputting expense or mileage claims, cash handling, keeping accurate records in accordance with statutory financial regulations, placing travel bookings and filing.

The post-holder will embody Notre Dame’s five Rs; resilience, resourcefulness, responsibility, reasoning, and reflection.  You will need to demonstrate good communication, inter-personal and organisational skills, and be a team player.  No two days will be the same, so the job is varied and interesting.  To be successful, you will need to be able to remain calm under pressure and deliver first class customer service.  Office experience would be useful, but not essential as training will be provided.

Alongside on-the-job training, the successful candidate will study for a Business Administration Level 2 qualification specialising in financial modules.  Entry requirements for the course are Maths and English GCSE at grade C, or above and applicants will need to complete functional skills tests at college.

You will be paid monthly in arrears and you will be eligible to join the LGPS career average pension scheme.  Please see below for the job description and person specification for this role.
